In ACCIONA Energía we know that energy storage technologies will be essential to achieve a system completely based on renewable energies that will allow us to hold back global warming and implement a fully sustainable energy model, one that makes development compatible with the preservation of the planet and even goes further by generating a positive impact on it.
Since 2017 we have driven pioneering initiatives such as the first battery storage plant from wind power in Spain, located in Barásoain (Navarra), or the first industrial plant generating green hydrogen in the country, put into service on the island of Mallorca in 2022.
We have recently started operating the largest stationary battery in Texas (USA) to serve the electric grid, and we have a pipeline of projects under development in the country of more than 1GW of capacity.
We also have an 89 MW pumped-storage hydroelectric plant at Canfranc Estación (Huesca), as an example of how to store renewable energy through a hydraulic pumping system.
